Mount Sinai Announces 2014 Annual Excellence in Nursing Practice Award Recipients

The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens culminated its National Nurses Week celebration by recognizing 15 nurses as leaders in innovation, education, research and patient care at its 33rd Annual Boards of Trustees Awards for Excellence in Nursing Practice on Tuesday, May 6. The award ceremony was one of several events honoring Mount Sinai nurses during the week-long celebration honoring contributions and commitments by nurses at Mount Sinai.

“I’m very proud to lead Mount Sinai’s nursing body, and salute our nurse who give tirelessly of themselves day in and day out,” said Carol Porter, DNP, RN, FAAN, The Edgar M. Cullman, Sr. Chair of the Department of Nursing, Chief Nursing Officer, and Associate Dean of Nursing and Research. “I am truly in awe of the talent of our recipients this year. They are fine examples of the caliber of nurses at our health system.”  

Participating in the ceremony were Boards of Trustee members: Susan R. Cullman and Patricia S. Levinson, who is the Department of Nursing representative on the Board’s Patient Care and Quality Assurance Committee. Ms. Cullman and her brother, Edgar M. Cullman, Jr., represent similar interests and concerns of their father, the late Edgar M. Cullman, Sr., who served on the Boards of Trustees for more than 50 years, and was a long-time supporter of excellence in nursing and patient care at Mount Sinai.
