Mount Sinai Announces Opening of Head and Neck Institute in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

Brooklyn residents now have access to advanced head and neck cancer care with the opening of the Mount Sinai Head and Neck Institute in Bay Ridge.  The comprehensive outpatient facility offers high-quality care for head and neck cancers and skull-base tumors, as well as salivary, thyroid and parathyroid diseases.

“The opening of this Institute in central Brooklyn represents a new standard of personalized specialty care for each patient’s unique needs,” said Eric M. Genden, MD, FACS, Dr. Isidore Friesner Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Mount Sinai Health System.  “Mount Sinai will meet an unmet need in this community, as well as the neighboring communities of Staten Island, Queens, and Long Island.”

Multidisciplinary Team Treating Head and Neck Conditions
Physicians located in the Bay Ridge office include Daniel Buchbinder, DMD, MD; Raymond Chai, MD; Boris Chernobilsky, MD; Anthony Del Signore, MD; and Ilya Likhterov, MD. Together they comprise a multidisciplinary group offering a full range of services, including diagnostics, minimally invasive robotic surgery, facial reconstruction, and skull-base and endoscopic sinus surgery.

“Our team brings unique expertise in cancer treatment, reconstruction and dental surgery,” said Dr. Buchbinder, Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Mount Sinai. “Our goal is to provide access to physicians who are among the best in their fields, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, and specialized care that is conveniently located close to home. We have streamlined a high level of care for patients with complex conditions, with the ultimate goal of a fast recovery and quick return to daily routines.”

The Institute at Bay Ridge offers treatment of all types and stages of head and neck cancers, various oral and maxillofacial conditions, sleep apnea, and sinus, thyroid, and salivary diseases. Surgical procedures take place at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in lower Manhattan, but all other appointments and follow-up visits can now occur at the Bay Ridge office.
