Mount Sinai Queens Receives 2015 Press Ganey Award for Improving Patient Experience

  • Queens, NY
  • (December 01, 2015)

In recognition of its innovation and leadership toward measurably improving the patient experience, Mount Sinai Queens was recently named a 2015 Success Story Award® winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. Mount Sinai Queens was one of just 15 award recipients nationwide.

“Patient satisfaction is at the core of what we call the ‘Mount Sinai Queens Way’,” said Executive Director Caryn A. Schwab. “This will provide a strong foundation for putting our patients at the center of everything we do as we look forward to the opening of our new building beginning next year, with a dramatic increase in services, from our new outpatient imaging center to our expansion of primary care and specialty medical services to our larger emergency department and new operating rooms.  I congratulate our physicians, nurses and staff for receiving this national recognition of their efforts to continually improve the patient experience.”

The ‘Mount Sinai Queens Way’ begins with listening to the voices of patients and staff in groups large and small, as well as through one-on-one interactions. There is also consistent communication about the importance of patient experience and acting on the feedback we receive.  As a result, Mount Sinai Queens has over the past three years experienced sustained, quantified improvements in several areas, including nursing communications, responsiveness, cleanliness and pain management.

“The Press Ganey award is an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience, and we will look to build on this achievement,” said Ms. Schwab.  “It is a particularly significant honor to receive this on the eve of opening our newly expanded facility, which will offer us even better resources and opportunities to improve the overall health of our community.”

"We are proud to partner with Mount Sinai Queens,” said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey. “Their visionary leadership has quantifiably improved the patient experience, advancing the quality and delivery of care in Queens.”
