A Randomized, Double-blind Trial to Assess TAXUS Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stents, Slow-Release Formulation in the Treatment of High Risk De Novo Coronary Lesions (TAXUS V Trial)

The purpose of the TAXUS V High Risk Lesion trial is to study the safety and efficacy of the TAXUS-SR stent compared with uncoated bare metal control in the high-risk groups.

  • Inclusion

    1. Patient is >18 years old 2. The potential subjects who received stent as their standard of care 3. Chest pain 4. Subjects who underwent for bypass surgery are eligible 5. Target lesion is a blood vessel not previously treated.
  • Exclusion

    1. Known hypersensitivity to paclitaxel. 2. Recent changes in EKG or laboratory findings for myocardial infarction (heart attack) 3. Changes in cardiac enzymes 4. Stroke within 6 months. 5. Kidney failure/problems. 6.Thrombocytopenia (a reduced platelet count).Platelets are tiny cells that circulate in the blood to remove the blood clots. It prevents the haemorrhage - bleeding from a ruptured blood vessel. 7. Allergy to Aspirin, Plavix and Ticlid medication. 8. Currently participating in another investigational drug or device study.
