About Me

M Zeeshan Akhtar is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Attending Surgeon at Mount Sinai, New York, with a primary clinical focus on Liver Transplantation. At Mount Sinai, he leads the isolated organ perfusion services. His research interests lie in the development of innovative devices for perfusion and understanding the biological basis for resuscitating, optimizing, and rescuing organs for transplantation.

M Zeeshan Akhtar graduated from Oxford medical school in 2007, completed residency in hospitals in London and Oxford before completing fellowship in multiorgan transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at Mount Sinai.
