Neuroradiology

If you have a concern about your brain, spine, head, or neck, neuroradiology may be part of your diagnosis and treatment. Neuroradiology uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scans for diagnosis and treatment.

Our neuroradiologists are highly trained and experienced. All of our experts have earned Certificates of Added Qualification in neuroradiology. In addition, our team includes many international leaders in the field.

Our facilities are state of-the-art. We have the most advanced technologies at our fingertips. We focus on these three parts of the body:

• Brain. We evaluate a wide variety of diseases of the brain. The most common conditions are stroke, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, and metastatic cancer. We use the latest imaging software available. This enables us to develop the best possible data to develop treatment plans and help with surgical navigation.
• Spine. We provide top-notch imaging and interpretation to other specialists throughout the Mount Sinai Health System. We work most closely with orthopedic and neurosurgery spine surgeons, myeloma specialists, oncologists, and other medical experts. We also play a critical role in treatment. We regularly perform spine biopsies, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty, spinal tumor ablation therapy, and spinal pain injections.
• Head and Neck. We bring our imaging expertise to diagnosis and treatment of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat. Our head and neck radiologists are pioneers in the field and perform advanced imaging techniques not widely available elsewhere. Our team has also written the major textbook in the field. We work closely with ear, nose, and throat surgeons to diagnose and treat diseases of the head and neck. Mount Sinai is a national center for image-guided head and neck procedures.
