"Outpatient Boom Lifts Mount Sinai's Profits" - Jonathan LaMantia
The Mount Sinai Hospital's operating income rose 55.7 percent, to $103.1 million, in the first half of this year, with outpatient revenue rising 25 percent compared to the same period last year. After nonoperating revenue, including a $97 million gain from the sale of its clinical outreach laboratories to LabCorp, Mount Sinai earned $268.1 million—more than four times the comparable figure in the year-ago period. The financial results reflect the performance at Mount Sinai's Manhattan and Queens campuses. Total revenue increased 14 percent, to $1.3 billion, with a 4 percent increase in inpatient discharges.
