About Me
Dr. Herbert S. Lempel has practiced Internal Medicine for over 30 years. After completing his undergraduate studies at Yeshiva University, Dr. Lempel graduated from New York Medical College with his doctorate degree. He then went on to Booth Memorial Medical Center for both his internship and residency in Internal Medicine. With his certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Lempel sees and treats patients with a wide range of ailments.
Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Lempel was the founder, President, and Chairman of the Board of NY Primary Care, a physician group without walls. He was also the VP and Founder of Healthreach NY Foundation, which provided free medical care to the working uninsured. Currently, he acts as the Medical Director of MSD Forest Hills and has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine since 2010.
In his time practicing medicine, Dr. Lempel's focus has been on community health and taking care of patients, not for just a visit, but for a lifetime. His patients have repeatedly expressed their appreciation for his work in their comments, with one stating "Dr. Lempel is proof that professionalism and kindness are not mutually exclusive."

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
