
Louise Bier, MS
About Me
As a genetic counselor, Louise Bier, MS, CGC, has worked at the interface of clinical care and genetics research. Her previous work has focused on lysosomal storage disorders and related clinical research and clinical trials, as well as genomics research and precision medicine with a particular focus on epilepsy and other neurologic disorders. Through collaboration with geneticists and clinicians, Ms. Bier has contributed to efforts identifying new gene/disease associations and expanding known gene/disease phenotypes, including GNB1, SCN8A, CSNK2B, and SPTBN1. She has also worked extensively on educating and engaging communities across New York City on the topic of precision medicine research and is a co-author on the NSGC’s Practice Resource on Elective Genomic Testing.
Currently, as Director of Clinical Trials in Genetics & Genomic Sciences, Ms. Bier partners with clinical investigators to oversee the implementation of clinical trials for rare genetic diseases. She also serves as the Director of Clinical Research for the ISMMS Master’s in Genetic Counseling program.
