Syam S Andra, PhD
About Me
Dr. Syam S. Andra leads the organics section of the flagship Senator Frank Lautenberg Environmental Health Sciences Laboratory, NIEHS P30 Core Centre, and NIEHS Children's Health Exposure Analysis Resource (National Exposure Assessment Laboratory Network) at Mount Sinai (directed by Dr. Robert Wright). His work is mainly focused on the application of advanced chromatography (liquid and gas) and mass spectrometry (MS/MS and QTOF) workflows in environmental analysis, and human exposure biomarker and biomonitoring studies. He works with Dr. Manish Arora to develop targeted and non-targeted approaches in studying prenatal exposures and childhood exposome by utilizing teeth as a novel bio-matrix and compare with conventional ones (e.g. blood, urine, hair, placenta).
Dr. Andra received his PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Before joining Mount Sinai, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher in an inter-continental program between the Harvard School of Public Health and Cyprus International Institute for Environmental and Public Health (European Union).
