The Mount Sinai Health System and Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center Health Care System today announced a clinical collaboration aimed at providing superior health care to the residents of New York City’s northernmost borough. Bronx-Lebanon is the largest not-for-profit health care system serving the south and central Bronx, with two hospital divisions; two long-term care facilities; a comprehensive psychiatry program; and BronxCare network of medical practices, including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center. Mount Sinai includes the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and seven campuses, including Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, which will be a key hospital partner for the collaboration.
While both organizations will remain independent, they will work together to:
• Enhance patient care by establishing new clinical programs and services across multiple disciplines, including cardiology, oncology, surgery, orthopaedics, and pediatrics.
• Extend the availability of Mount Sinai’s specialized tertiary and quaternary care to residents of the Bronx;
• Link information systems to promote quality, continuity and evaluation of care;
• Develop a robust population health enterprise, including shared resources as part of New York State’s Delivery Service Reform Incentive Program, or DSRIP, as well as a clinically integrated physician network for the delivery of high-quality, cost-efficient and accessible health care.
“We are proud to welcome Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center as an affiliate of the Mount Sinai Health System,” said Kenneth L. Davis, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mount Sinai Health System. “Bronx-Lebanon is a remarkable institution that has shown leadership through its commitment to delivering high quality care to patients and the communities in the Bronx. This commitment resonates with Mount Sinai’s mission and enables our teams to work together to improve care for the patients and communities we serve.”
“Our new affiliation with Mount Sinai represents an important opportunity to reinforce Bronx-Lebanon’s continuing efforts to promote health care excellence for patients,” said Miguel A. Fuentes, Jr., President and CEO, Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center Health Care System. “The Mount Sinai Health System is a leader in health care, always on the cutting edge of advances in medicine and research. We are therefore eager to move forward with Mount Sinai in meeting the health care challenges of today.”
“Our new partnership with Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center will play an integral role in Mount Sinai’s population health initiative and crystalizes our ongoing commitment to delivering the highest quality of health care to New York’s diverse communities,” said Arthur A. Klein, MD, President of the Mount Sinai Health Network.
