At Mount Sinai, our Geriatrics experts will work with you and your family members to make your healthcare journey as effortless as possible. We offer personalized care throughout a variety of treatments and services.

The Geriatrics Department at Mount Sinai offers a comprehensive approach to your care including robust inpatient, outpatient, community, and home-based service options. We manage your inpatient care with Geriatric-specific expertise and treatment options. We also maintain close contact with your other doctors to ensure a safe, seamless continuity of care from hospital to home.

Our outpatient programs and services are located at The Martha Stewart Center for Living, and Mount Sinai Doctors Senior Health. Our practices provide a wide array of services including:

• A centralized source of individualized patient and family care provided by specialist geriatric physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and social workers
• Complementary and integrative therapies to supplement traditional medical treatments
• Programs for caregivers and the community
• Coordination of care and referrals to other appropriate physicians and services

Our at-home programs include the Mount Sinai Visiting Doctors Program, and Mount Sinai at Home, collaborations with the Department of Medicine, which bring high-quality medical care to patients with complex, serious illnesses in the setting most appropriate to them.

Research and Innovation

We participate in a number of important research initiatives involving aging and palliative care. These initiatives include:

• Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center, James J. Peters VA Medical Center, which also provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient geriatric and palliative care services for veterans
• Research Institute on Aging at The New Jewish Home, which provides long-term care through our affiliated 514-bed teaching nursing home
• The Center to Advance Palliative Care, a national organization that provides health care professionals with practice tools, training, and technical assistance. The Center is the leading resource for palliative care program development, including the Palliative Care Leadership Centers, which focus on international training and mentoring initiatives.
• The National Palliative Care Research Center stimulates, develops, and funds research directed at improving care for seriously ill patients and their families. This Center provides a virtual home for researchers at medical facilities and universities throughout the country. In partnership with the Center to Advance Palliative Care, the Center rapidly translates findings into clinical practice.
