Summary:

The Sweat Sensor Study at Mount Sinai aims to measure and monitor markers of inflammation and the immune system, such as C-reactive protein and calprotectin, continuously in the sweat using a wearable sweat sensing device. Our hope is that this wearable device will eventually provide a way to monitor disease markers in the sweat in a continuous and noninvasive manner and allow for monitoring of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in real-time. If you have Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, you may be eligible to join. Participants will be compensated $250.

Eligibility:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease
  • Have a smartphone and are willing to download an app on your device

Participation in the study will require:

  • Use of the study’s noninvasive sweat sensing device
  • Answering brief daily questionnaires on the study app
  • Sample collections at the beginning and end of the study
  • Download and use app (Sweat AWARE) from the App Store
