Podiatry
Mount Sinai Health System podiatrists diagnose and treat foot and ankle conditions. We can help whether the problem stems from disease, injury, or mechanical defect. Our podiatrists treat bunions, hammertoes and ingrown toenails, simple and complex fractures, sprains, and strains. We also provide preventive foot care for people with diabetes.
Residency training in podiatry and orthopedics covers core science and clinical education. Foot and ankle orthopedist surgeons are medical doctors, or MDs, who specialized in foot and ankle surgery. Podiatrists are doctors of podiatric medicine, or DPMs, who focus on foot and ankle and general medicine. Both orthopedists and podiatrists can diagnose and treat medical conditions affecting the foot and ankle.
