Urologic Cancers
The most basic types of urologic cancers are adrenal cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Mount Sinai treats the entire spectrum of urologic cancers with a multidisciplinary approach. Our team of specialists includes urologic surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and oncology nurses. We offer you support services including for the individual, family, and group counseling. Our goal is to offer the most comprehensive care available, and preserve as much normal function as possible after surgery.
Surgery
At Mount Sinai Urology, we have pioneered use of minimally invasive treatments for a wide range of urologic conditions. We are among the most established specialists in the country for robotic prostate surgery, robotic kidney surgery, laparoscopic surgery, endoscopic surgery, and laser surgery.
Our physicians evaluate your individual needs to determine the best surgical approach. When appropriate, we prefer to use minimally invasive approaches because they allow decreased tissue damage, faster recovery time, and less scarring than open surgery.
We are also very experienced in use of minimally invasive robotic surgery, using the da Vinci Surgical System, by Intuitive Surgical, Inc. This state-of-the-art technology enables us to perform precise surgery in complex procedures through small surgical incisions. This is especially important with robotic prostate surgery, where the operative field is difficult to reach.
