Men’s Sexual Health
At Mount Sinai Doctors on Long Island, we offer the latest personalized treatment options to address a variety of male sexual health issues. We have two locations in Nassau County.
Conditions We Treat
We treat a wide range of male sexual issues, including:
- Erectile dysfunction (ED): When you have difficulty getting or keeping an erection. ED is also called impotence.
- Low Libido: Decreased sex drive
- Ejaculation/sexual dysfunction: These are the major types:
- Premature ejaculation is when you regularly orgasm sooner than you want.
- Delayed ejaculation is when you have difficulty ejaculating during intercourse or sexual manipulation.
- Retrograde ejaculation is when no semen comes out after an orgasm (also called dry orgasm).
- Low testosterone (low T): This occurs when your body does not produce enough of the male sex hormone testosterone. It can lead to changes in your sex drive and erections, and can cause fatigue, decreased muscle mass, and other issues.
- Peyronie’s disease: A new lump, bump, or significantly curved penis, sometimes associated with painful erections.
- Male infertility: When couples have issues conceiving after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse.
Diagnosis
To make a diagnosis, we obtain a medical history and do a physical exam. We may also perform one or more tests. The tests we use regularly include:
- Penile ultrasound: We use this noninvasive imaging technique in combination with a penile injection in order to take pictures of the inside of the penis, map out blood flow, and help diagnose the underlying causes of ED. If you have Peyronie’s disease, this test also helps us assess your curvature and evaluate for any underlying plaques or deformities.
- Semen analysis: This test involves taking a sample of sperm and sending it to the lab for evaluation.
- Hormonal evaluation: This blood test helps us assess the levels of several male sex hormones, including testosterone. If you have male infertility or low testosterone, this evaluation helps us determine the underlying cause of these issues and can also help guide treatment.
