Cameron R. Hernandez, MD, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer
Cameron R. Hernandez, MD, is responsible for the delivery of consistent, high quality, patient-focused medical care by Mount Sinai Queens’ broad range of physicians and surgeons. With a focus on patient safety, and an excellent inpatient and ambulatory patient experience, he places a high value on relationship building and fostering communication within the medical staff of Mount Sinai Queens and across the spectrum of care providers and support staff.
Dr. Hernandez is an Associate Professor of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, and Internal Medicine, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He has held numerous appointments within the School focused on quality and shifting patient care to the outpatient setting to enhance quality of care, including Executive Committee, Mount Sinai Visiting Doctors Program; Clinical Council Committee, Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine; and the Ambulatory Epic Physicians Working Group Committee.
Dr. Hernandez was most recently the Medical Director of Ambulatory Care at The Mount Sinai Hospital and the Associate Director of the Mount Sinai Visiting Doctors Program. He was involved in the day-to-day operations of 75 hospital-based practices and has garnered a national reputation for driving quality in home-based and outpatient primary care. As a researcher, Dr. Hernandez has focused on describing the characteristics and needs of populations served by home-based primary care. He has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and was named the House Call Physician of the Year in 2016 by the American Academy of Home Care Medicine.
Dr. Hernandez is board certified in Geriatrics and Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital of Manhattan and a Geriatrics fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
Amrita Gupte, MD, MPH, MBA, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Gupte has a broad range of experience at Mount Sinai Queens, having served in several positions throughout her time here. Before she assumed CMO duties in 2021, Dr. Gupte was the Hospital's Deputy Chief Operating Officer. Her Operations leadership emphasized real-time data, which Dr. Gupte credits for improvements in the quality and safety of care delivered to the diverse populations served by Mount Sinai Queens.
Dr. Gupte began her tenure at Mount Sinai Queens as Medical Director of Clinical Operations and Patient Safety. There, she was a leader in reducing Emergency Department boarding time and a champion for length-of-stay initiatives. She managed several resource utilization programs and implemented standardized care pathways—including joint replacement—to optimize discharge to home.
Dr. Gupte received her medical degree from King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College in Mumbai, India. She went on to complete an internship and residency in internal medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center, New York Medical College. She subsequently completed an MPH in Health Policy and Management from New York Medical College as well as an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business.
Jill Goldstein, MA, MS, RN, Vice President of Nursing
A health care veteran with more than 30 years of experience, Jill Goldstein brings a legacy of leading and delivering innovative, transformational, and celebrated programs and clinical services. Her accomplished and influential nursing leadership career combines tertiary hospital and home health care services. She has been a catalyst for change with a proven ability to drive quality improvement, fiscal fitness, patient-centered care, and patient satisfaction.
Goldstein leads the nursing staff of more than 500, overseeing nursing practice and education and ensuring quality and consistency. She is a key player in maintaining the Mount Sinai Queens Magnet Recognition Program® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, health care’s most prestigious honor for nursing excellence. She is also critical in the development and implementation of hospital-wide performance improvement programs.
Prior to joining Mount Sinai Queens, Goldstein was a vice president of operations at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York–Bronx/Westchester (VNSNY).
She holds a Master’s of Science in Health Services Management and a Masters of Arts in Nursing Administration from New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University Center at Binghamton. She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executive, the Greater New York Nassau/Suffolk Organization of Nurse Executive and Leaders, the American Nurses Association, and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine.
Ricardo Bonitto, MBA, Chief Financial Officer
Just a few years after emigrating from Jamaica, Ricardo Bonitto began an enduring career at Mount Sinai Queens when he was hired as an Accounts Payable Manager for what was then, Astoria General Hospital. Ricardo continued in that role throughout the 1990s as Astoria General morphed into Western Queens Community Hospital. When Mount Sinai purchased the hospital in 1999, he became Manager of Budgets and Reimbursements. Since 2003, Ricardo has held positions as Associate Director of Finance, Director of Financial Operations, and, since late 2015, Senior Director and Chief Financial Officer at Mount Sinai Queens.
In his current role, Bonitto is responsible for financial operations at Mount Sinai Queens, overseeing teams like Budgets, Reimbursements, Payroll, General Accounting and Professional Billing. But he is especially proud of receiving the Friend of Nursing Award in 2012, the result of collaborative effort to improve the financial management of that department.
During his spare time, he likes to coach soccer and spend time with his family. He sponsors high school athletes from Jamaica annually at the Penn Relays, the biggest college track and field competition in the United States. He also provides scholarship for needy students. Ricardo Bonitto holds an MBA from St. John’s University and a BS in Accounting from the University of the West Indies.
