Treatments for Skull Base Tumors
Skull base tumors should be evaluated and treated by a team of experts, dedicated to skull base surgery. This is largely because of their complexity and challenging location for removal. At Mount Sinai, our multidisciplinary team is comprised of fellowship-trained skull base surgeons, who employ state-of-the-art technology – including robotic surgery – and have vast experience treating these tumors. At our Skull Base Surgery Center, we provide a full consultation and recommended treatment paths are personalized for each patient with an emphasis on the least invasive approach. Treatment options include the following:
- Minimally invasive/transnasal endoscopic surgery
- Transoral robotic surgery (TORS)
- Open surgery/craniotomy
- Chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy (depending on the tumor type and size)
