Intensive Care at Mount Sinai West
Mount Sinai West patients who have critical illnesses or are recuperating from surgery and need 24/7 monitoring after surgery go to one of our intensive care units (ICU). Our ICUs have the most advanced intensive care equipment. Our staff are specially trained in addressing the most serious health care challenges.
We have two ICUs:
- Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (M/SICU): This unit cares for patients with critical illnesses and those who need special monitoring after surgery. Some of the medical conditions we address are sepsis, shock, hemorrhage, respiratory failure, and kidney failure.
- Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NSICU): This unit is staffed by experts in neurology. We address conditions such as brain tumors, acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.
