The Third Mona Shimshi MD Annual Lecture was given by Ira J. Goldberg MD who is the Dickinson W. Richards Professor of Medicine and the Chief of the Division of Preventive Medicine and Nutrition at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons on Thursday April 4th, 2013. His talk title was "Diabetic Heart Diseases".

The Third Mona Shimshi MD Annual Lecture was given by Ira J. Goldberg MD who is the Dickinson W. Richards Professor of Medicine and the Chief of the Division of Preventive Medicine and Nutrition at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons on Thursday April 4th, 2013.  His talk title was "Diabetic Heart DiseaseS".  

In his talk, which was well received by the multidisciplinary audience, he reviewed the major secondary complication of Diabetes Mellitus, namely heart disease.  In addition he presented data implicating lipids as possible cardiotoxic agents.

This lectureship honors Dr. Mona Shimshi, a renowned clinical endocrinologist and teacher, who, like Dr. Goldberg, was a graduate of the Mount Sinai Endocrine Fellowship Training Program.
