ISMMS Students Develop App to Provide More Consistent Health Care

Paper details the development and implementation of a new health care knowledge management system.

In an effort to improve the flow of information and frequent transfer of protocols to new personnel, members of the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (EHHOP), a student-run, physician-supervised free clinic at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, developed EHHap, a knowledge management system mobile application. A paper outlining the development and implementation methods of EHHap is published in IOS Press.

As a student-run clinic, EHHOP has a constant cycle of new students entering the program and experienced, knowledgeable students leaving the program. EHHap consolidates institutional knowledge and provides students with a quick reference of protocol checklists to more efficiently and effectively care for their patients.

Paper authors include ISMMS students Mark Finkelstein; Ammar Siddiqui; Theodore Pak; Kevin Hu; Chloe Ciccariello; Vinicius Knabben; David Chiang; as well as Dr. David C. Thomas and Dr. Yasmin S. Meah. Read more.
