"Blood Biomarkers Predict Preclinical Development of Crohn’s Disease, Risk For Complications"
Researchers have identified serologic antimicrobial antibodies that are predictive of Crohn’s disease development and complications years before symptom onset and disease diagnosis. “Acquiring mechanistic information on pre-clinical IBD can potentially uncover key pathogenic events, lead to the development of new therapeutic targets and inform predictive algorithms that could be used to define at-risk populations in whom to test these approaches," said Jean-Frédéric Colombel, MD, director of the Susan and Leonard Feinstein IBD Clinical Center at Mount Sinai.
