"Beta Cell Regeneration" -Kristen Monaco
Researchers at Mount Sinai discovered a combination of two drug classes that yielded the highest proliferation rate of human beta cells. This "makes beta cells regenerate at rates that are suitable for treatment. The next big hurdle is figuring out how to deliver them directly to the pancreas," said lead author Andrew Stewart, MD, director of the Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
