But with the right strategy, working out is the exact solution to help prevent those with injuries. “You want to challenge yourself, but not to the point where you’re putting yourself at risk for injuries,” said Leesa Galatz, MD, professor and system chair of the department of orthopedics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “If you have localized pain with exercise, especially if it starts hurting when you’re not exercising, you should definitely have it evaluated,” Dr. Galatz added.
