"Mummy's Curse: Heart Disease Is An Ancient Scourge" - Dennis Thompson
Scientists are taking the wrappings off an age-old malady. Clogged arteries are a heart problem that's dogged humanity for millennia, finds a new imaging study of mummies. According to Jagat Narula, MD, PhD, professor of cardiology and radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai who was not involved in the study, “The new study supports the findings of previous mummy research.” He added, “Hundreds of mummies gathered from Egypt, Peru, Greenland, the Aleutian Islands and other locales have demonstrated that atherosclerosis was present all across the timeline.”
