Children’s Emergency Department
If your child has an emergency and needs immediate care, our staff at the Children’s Emergency Department at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital is ready to care for your child 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our Children’s Emergency Department, conveniently located in East Harlem, is dedicated to the care of all infants and children.
As soon as you and your child arrives at our emergency room, your child will be seen by our emergency room staff. Our multidisciplinary team includes pediatric-specific specialists in nursing, social work, and child life, in addition to our eight full-time, board certified pediatric emergency medicine faculty. If your child needs continued treatment, our emergency room has access to world-renowned experts in all subspecialties at the Kravis Children’s Hospital.
The Children’s Emergency Department is tailored to the needs of children and their families, with a separate space from the adult ED and is connected to all services within Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. With little to no wait times, the ED brings patients directly to treatment rooms after check in. The location houses a newly established special “resuscitation space” for critical care cases to enhance treatment for the sickest children and a low-stimulation room—a quieter and calmer area for children with autism or other sensory challenges—which is unique among New York-area emergency departments.
Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital is a leader in the field of pediatric emergency medicine. Our Children’s Emergency Department only treats children and will never turn away a child in need of emergency care
