Diagnosing Nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM)
In order to evaluate a patient for a nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infection, a health care provider will perform a thorough physical examination and medical history. Tests for NTM often include the following:
- CT scan of the chest
- Lab tests, such as a sputum culture
- Bronchoscopy
Following diagnosis, an individualized treatment plan will be designed to fit the needs of each patient.
