Last December, 92-year-old Bronx resident María was unsure of how much longer she had to live.
The senior, born in the Dominican Republic in 1921, was experiencing severe pain in her back and hip area due to a large and growing aneurysm. Ageliki Vouyouka, MD, Associate Professor of Surgery and Radiology at The Mount Sinai Hospital, knew time was of the essence. "María had an abdominal aortic aneurysm," said Dr. Vouyouka.
