Dr. Andrew Casden: “Should Giants Running Back David Wilson Play Football Again?”
David Wilson looked like someone who wanted to play football at Giants practice on Thursday and Friday. That might have come as a surprise to some. After suffering a "burner"—an injury that results in a stinging or burning sensation emanating from the neck or shoulder area—in a collision during Tuesday's practice, Wilson had been sidelined indefinitely, with the Giants saying he would need to undergo further tests on his neck. "He had what's called an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, where part of the disk is removed and they then unite the two vertebrate together," said Andrew Casden, MD, Associate Professor of Orthopedics at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
