Understanding Your Bills
Insurance regulations require us to charge separately for hospital facilities and non-medical providers. As a result, you will probably receive more than one bill for a single day of service. You will receive at least one bill from your doctor or doctors. You will get a separate bill from The Mount Sinai Hospital, which may also include laboratory services, pharmacy items, and IV therapy services.
- You will receive bills from each of the medical providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) who have contributed to your care. These bills represent fees for their professional services for office consultations and for "bedside" visits in the Therapeutic Infusion Center.
- If you have a question about a specific bill, the best place to start is to call the telephone number provided on the bill itself.
- Your health insurance plan determines how much you have to pay for your visit (co-payment). We will collect your co-payment at the time of your visit. You may pay by cash, check, or credit card.
If you have a question about an explanation of benefits (EOB) from your insurer, please call your insurer first.
