A new study in Nature Genetics has uncovered mutations in the small non-coding gene RNU2-2 as a cause of a severe neurodevelopmental disorder—bringing answers and hope to thousands of families worldwide, a breakthrough from @SinaiGenetics.

Building on their landmark RNU4-2 / ReNU syndrome discovery, researchers found RNU2-2 syndrome shares features but is often more severe, especially in epilepsy.

Results from the ECLIPSE trial, which was presented by Dr. Gregg W. Stone at #ACC25, found that using intravascular imaging (IVI) to guide stent implantation in severely calcified lesions is safer and more effective than stenting guided with conventional angiography alone.

“These results extend the strong recommendations from recent U.S. and European societal guidelines that intravascular imaging with either optical coherence tomography (OCT) or intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) should be routinely used during complex coronary stent procedures, including severely calcified lesions," says Dr. Stone.
