Clinical Trials

Clinical trials can help doctors learn about new cancer treatments that may be more effective than standard treatments. They can give you a better outcome and quality of life. Clinical trials often stem from medical research labs, where new drugs and treatments are developed and studied.

Participating in a clinical trial gives you access to promising new treatments. When you join a clinical trial, you gain:

  • Access to treatment that is not yet widely available
  • Guidance by leading experts in the field
  • The ability to play an active role in your treatment
  • The opportunity to contribute to medical knowledge that improves outcomes for others

Many clinical trials feature new treatments. In addition, there are also clinical trials for cancer prevention, screening, and quality of life, to support your cancer care.

Mount Sinai’s Excellence in Clinical Trials

We are a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center. This means we receive federal funding and support for our research efforts. It puts us at the forefront of innovation and hope. It also means that our center connects you to groundbreaking clinical trials that are transforming cancer care and shaping the future of medicine.

Mount Sinai researchers have extensive experience with cancer clinical trials. Our clinical trials research has led to major scientific advances. We have made improvements in many areas, including immunotherapy, molecularly targeted treatment, cell therapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical techniques.

All of these advances improve the lives of people with cancer. We continually work on new clinical trials that bring hope to patients.

Mount Sinai has rigorous standards about who is eligible for a particular trial. Our standards are also important to ensure patient safety. We make sure you join the clinical trial that is right for you at the right time during your course of treatment and provide you with helpful resources and information.

If you are interested in participating in a clinical trial, talk to your doctor. Your doctor can help you find a trial that matches your individual situation. Your doctor can also answer any questions you may have. While you are participating in a clinical trial, our clinical trial specialists provide another layer of expert support.

If a clinical trial is not right for you, you will still receive the best care from our cancer experts.

At Mount Sinai, we serve a diverse group of patients. We are committed to helping all our patients receive the best care possible. We strive to enable all patients to participate in and benefit from our cancer clinical trials.
