Social Work Support Services
Social Workers offer support programs to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings and within most medical specialties. There are illness-specific support programs in many medical service areas. A few of these programs are highlighted below. Contact your Social Worker for more information on programs that may fit your specific needs.

Below are just a few of the support programs available to you. These may include support groups, peer to peer support, educational forums, and spiritual support, among others.
Breast Center Support Services
The Dubin Breast Center of the Tisch Cancer Institute hosts programs and events for patients and caregivers, offers patient stories and videos, and meets the needs of women and men living with breast cancer through the Breast Health Resource Program.
Cancer Support Services
At the Derald H. Ruttenberg Treatment Center of The Tisch Cancer Institute we provide support through lectures, seminars, and other events. Watch our video to learn more about support programs at the Ruttenberg Treatment Center.
Children/Pediatrics Support Services
We provide Child and Family Support programs for patients through the Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. We also publish patient stories to help you learn about what other children and families have experienced as patients at Mount Sinai.
The Adolescent Health Center offers support services including counseling and mental health services, a web site geared toward teens, and videos.
Grief and Bereavement Support Services
Our Palliative Care services provide specialized medical care for people with serious illness. The Perinatal Bereavement program supports the needs of families following a pregnancy loss at any gestational age, or the loss or a child.
Gynecologic Oncology Support Services
Through our Woman to Woman program we offer emotional support and mentoring to women living with gynecologic cancer and to their loved ones. Watch our series of videos that feature this program.
Sexual Assault and Violence Support
The Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Program (SAVI) provides support to rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence survivors through psychotherapy, counseling, and information.
Spiritual Care
Mount Sinai’s Department of Spiritual Care and Education provide healing, hope, and comfort for all faiths.
Support for Caregivers
Individual medical specialties may have support programs available to caregivers in that particular area. Please contact your social worker to learn about available caregiver resources at The Mount Sinai Hospital and in the community.
Support for Older Adults
Mount Sinai’s Martha Stewart Center for Living provides access to health care resources for older adults.
Support for Transplant Patients
We offer support to transplant patients and their families through The Recanti/Miller Transplantation Institute’s home-like and affordable housing at the Transplant Living Center, patient stories, and videos.
