Our five adult intensive care units (ICUs) provide highly specialized, life-saving care for patients experiencing the most serious diseases, injuries, and recovering from complex surgeries. The teams working in our ICUs – from doctors to nurses and other support staff – are trained in the subspecialty of critical care medicine as well as their primary specialty such as anesthesiology, internal medicine, and neurology. At the Institute for Critical Care Medicine (ICCM), our physicians have access to a vast library of resources from multiple departments and experts across the entire Mount Sinai Health System.

Team Approach to Care

Our physicians work as part of a multidisciplinary team with critical care nurses, patient care associates, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, social workers, case managers, and chaplains.
