What to Expect During Your Visit

Your Care Team
During your visit, you may meet different members of our care team. We work together to provide you safe, quality care.

Help Us Keep This a Safe Place for Everyone
Mount Sinai is a place of compassion and safety. To protect our patients and our staff, we do not allow discrimination or harassment of any kind and we will take measures as needed to prevent and address threats and/or acts of violence.

Your Belongings
Please be aware of where your belongings are. Ask us for a bag to keep your personal items together.

Thirsty or Hungry?
Please ask your nurse or doctor. Eating or drinking can interfere with certain tests, so sometimes we ask you to wait. A water dispenser is available at the charge nurse station.  Light snacks or drinks may be available.

Next Steps

  • We recommend admitting you to the hospital: You will be admitted to the hospital because you need treatment that will take more than one night. Our Emergency Department team and the hospital team work together to coordinate your care and keep you informed while we wait for an available room. This may take considerable time. Please let us know how we can help you feel more comfortable while you wait.
  • You are ready to be discharged home: If our team determines you are safe to go home, we will help you understand your next steps. Mount Sinai has many providers who can help you and your family manage your care.
