Mount Sinai Morningside Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
Mount Sinai Morningside’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) cares for the sickest heart patients at Mount Sinai Morningside. We offer both medical and surgical services. We treat a variety of conditions, including:
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Complex coronary artery disease
- Acute heart failure
- Cardiogenic shock
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Cardiac arrest
- Valvular heart disease
- Pericardial disease
- Myocarditis
- Endocarditis
- Complex critical illness in cardiac patients
We also care for patients following open heart surgery.
Our Team
The CICU team includes cardiologists, nurses, and other allied health professionals with specific experience in critical care cardiology. In addition, our patients receive services from experts in social work, pastoral care, palliative care, nutrition, physical and occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, and respiratory therapy. We partner closely with the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery.

Our unit has 26 intensive care beds. We have a full range of advanced technologies available to support the highest level of care. We have a full range of options for percutaneous temporary mechanical circulatory support including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
