Infectious Diseases Residency Program
The PGY-2 Infectious Diseases residency at Mount Sinai Hospital is a 12-month, full-time training experience. The purpose of this Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program is to provide an educational environment to develop competencies necessary to provide pharmaceutical care to patients with infectious diseases by providing patient care, teaching, and clinical research in the area of infectious diseases pharmacotherapy. A graduate of the program will be a competent and confident clinician in the management of Infectious Disease Pharmacotherapy and will be an educator for patients and other health care professionals. After completing the PGY-2 infectious disease residency, the individual would be prepared to work as an infectious disease clinician for patient care positions, including antimicrobial stewardship; qualified for a faculty appointment in a college of pharmacy; and/or prepared to pursue certification in Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy. The resident will be an integral part of a variety of infectious diseases consult teams at Mount Sinai Hospital. In addition, the resident will have an active role on the antimicrobial subcommittee, participate in the antimicrobial stewardship program, and facilitate the experiential and didactic education of pharmacy students.
